There are 365 days in a year, yet the average summer program lasts about 3-8 weeks (1-3 days per week); this equates to about 24 days per year.
How much should we expect someone to learn in 24 days (spread out over 8 weeks)? Especially things that they've only been exposed to once or twice, if at all.
Don't get me wrong, I'd never knock an organization that is trying their best to address issues in the community because I know (based on my own efforts) how difficult it can be!
Nevertheless, the fact still remains that One or Two Programs a Year is NOT enough! And collectively we need to be doing something about it. So what do we do?
I'm not an expert on the subject, but I think that one thing we can do to provide more quality community programming is to support the organizations and individuals in the community that are.....
Passionate about setting goals, and achieving them
Passionate about the subject of mental health
Passionate about their niche, talents, and skills
Passionate about their own education, and educating others
Passionate about being debt free, and helping others to do the same
Passionate about leadership, and followership
Passionate about critical thinking
It's these kind of people that make the best leaders. It's these kind of people that make the best teachers. It's these kind of people that make the best citizens in the community. It's these kind of people that make a difference, so why not invest in them?
As leaders and people of influence, we have stop saying "nobody wants to work" or "nobody wants to learn" etc, because this is not true. I meet people all the time that want to learn, that want to work, and that are willing to work hard to reach their goals!
I'm not saying that finding and empowering such people is simple, because it's not, but I am saying that it doesn't have to be as complicated as we'll sometime make it out to be.
At NBE Group LLC, our goal is to provide year-round training programs for families as a whole, so we offer programs that we've created on our own, and we do our best to support organizations and individuals that are on a similar path.
Below are a few of our favorite moments in the community!
